Norton is at RP 15 km 23.5, Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo. It was founded in 1895 by an English engineer, Edmund James Palmer Norton, who saw potential in the land around the Mendoza River. Over 130 years later, the winery is still running and still using parts of its original buildings.
Norton is a large-scale operation. They produce a wide range from entry-level bottles to their top Privada and Lote labels. The Altura line, sourced from high-altitude vineyards, is where the quality really shows. Their Malbec Reserva is one of the better value wines in Mendoza.
The facility has been modernized over the years but retains the original fermentation areas and some of the old vineyard layout. The tour covers the history and the winemaking process. There’s also a restaurant on site.
Norton is in Perdriel, about 30 minutes south of Mendoza city on the main road toward Agrelo. We include it in our Luján de Cuyo wine tours.
