Lagarde is at San Martín 1745, Mayor Drummond, Luján de Cuyo. Founded in 1897, it’s one of the oldest working wineries in Mendoza. The place still has adobe walls, interior patios and old galleries that give it a different feel from the modern builds around Agrelo and Perdriel.
The vineyards include centenarian vines, some over 100 years old. These produce small quantities of concentrated fruit, and the winery makes the most of them in their top labels. The Lagarde Guarda is their flagship Malbec. They also produce very good Viognier and a Cabernet Franc that’s worth asking about.
One of the highlights of visiting Lagarde is the lunch. They offer a refined five-course meal paired with their wines, and the kitchen takes it seriously. It’s one of the better winery dining experiences in Luján de Cuyo.
The winery is in Mayor Drummond, close to other historic bodegas like Benegas and Luigi Bosca. We include Lagarde in our Luján de Cuyo wine tours.
