Santa Julia is on RP 33, km 7.5, in Fray Luis Beltrán, Maipú. The Zuccardi family founded the company in 1963. Alberto Zuccardi, an engineer, started planting vines in Maipú and experimenting with a drip irrigation system he adapted from California. That innovative approach has stayed with the family.
Today Santa Julia is one of the larger organic wine producers in Argentina. Their range goes from everyday bottles (the Santa Julia Orgánica line) to the Zuccardi Serie A and Aluvional labels, which are among the most awarded Argentine wines internationally.
The winery has a visitor center called Casa del Visitante, which includes a restaurant serving regional food paired with their wines. There’s also a cooking class option. It’s one of the more complete visitor experiences in Maipú.
Fray Luis Beltrán is about 20 minutes from Mendoza city. We include Santa Julia in our Maipú wine tours, and it works well combined with the bike-and-wine option through the Maipú vineyards.
