In Potrerillos, the Mendoza River affords the best white water rafting in Argentina. During the summer months, when the snow melts in the Andes and fill the Mendoza River, rafters enjoy up to Class III to V rapids in Potrerillos, 53km (33 miles) west of Mendoza. The continual rapids provide constant action throughout the decent. High summer flows, chalk-full of sediment, bring huge holes and haystacks. Low winter flows run clear with a natural slalom course of exposed rocks.
